New gTLDs are here!

ICANN’s new gTLD program is undoubtedly the biggest revolution in the internet industry till date. Being part of RuralServer, you can take advantage of the exponential growth in the Domain namespace. With 45 new gTLDs ready to be launched in their Sunrise Period on 16th January, 2014, there are some truly exciting times ahead!

What’s in it for you?

  • Brand new domain spaces: Promote competition and consumer choice, offer segmented solutions relevant to each customer and boost your revenue while doing so!
  • Target your audiences better: Offer your customers short, crisp domain names on a variety of TLDs, ranging from generic ones such as .today, to industry specific ones such as .shoes.
  • Perfect Timing: With a steady increase in number of Domain Names being registered every year & depleting name pools in other TLDs, new gTLDs couldn't have come at a better time for you.
  • Decrease lead wastage: Considerably reduce the number of customers who visit your website and leave without making a purchase, due to domain non-availability in the existing name space.

Sunrise Period

The Sunrise phase of the following new gTLDs, starting 16th January, 2014, is for trademark and copyright holders to protect their rights in their desired namespaces.
For domain names with trademarked phrases, registrations will require 'signed mark data' (SMD) file that trademark holders must get by registering their domain names with ICANN's Trademark Clearinghouse. This same SMD file can be used across all TLDs, for a particular set of names. Your Customers or Sub-Resellers that hold registered trademarks can apply for domains in the above listed name spaces, that are an exact or close match to their trademark. Domain names applied for in Sunrise will be allocated at the end of phase, multiple valid applicants for the same name may go to auction. To know more about the Sunrise Period, please visit our blog.
